Released in 1978, In the album “No wave”-The Police, “Roxanne is a song created by Sting, who was the one to open the 2019 Jazz Fest in Marciac. It tells his own story, a day where he was in an infamous hotel in Paris. In this bad neighbourhood where prostitution was everywhere to be seen, he saw an old add for the theatre play “Cyrano de Bergerac”, whose character “Roxanne” gave him inspiration for the song. .
